Volunteer Opportunities

*Deploying to major disasters - local and national-

Volunteers who take disaster classes can also sign up to be a part of the Disaster Services Human Resources team for the Red Cross. These volunteers may be deployed locally or to other disasters such as the Hurricanes of 2004 and 2005. Deployments are from 2 to 3 weeks, and the timing is at the discretion of the volunteer. Volunteers can train to work in shelters, with feeding, on disaster assessment teams, driving Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) and other fulfilling jobs.

*Becoming a member of a Disaster Action Team-

These volunteers receive Red Cross Disaster trainings (free of charge) and commit to responding to local disasters such as single family fires.

*Office Assistance-

We constantly need help with clerical duties, mailings, and overall organization in the office.

*Special projects-

Volunteers can focus on helping with short-term special projects such as:
  • Web Maintenance
  • Shelter Kits
  • CPR Saturday
  • Shelter Surveys
  • Fair Booths

*Joining a committee-

Volunteering for a committee is a great way to help the Red Cross build the capacity to serve its important role in our community.

We are always looking for volunteers to be members of our disaster and fundraising committees.

*Instructing or aiding in a Health and Safety Class (CPR, FA, Babysitter's Training, etc...)

The Red Cross offers a variety of Health and Safety classes to the community.  Volunteers are always welcome to observe a class, prepare materials, or enroll as a participant.
