Get Prepared!

Being prepared for emergencies is CRUCIAL for Humboldt County
homes, schools, workplaces, and our community.

Disaster can strike quickly and without warning. It can force you to evacuate your neighborhood, workplace or school. It can prevent you from leaving your home.

What will you do when your basic services -- water, gas, electricity, roads or telephones -- are impacted by our next strong earthquake?

Our chapter offers many opportunities for Humboldt County residents to learn about the specific threats that face us, and the steps we can take to "Be Ready."  We offer informational booths at many community events, as well as a full series of basic American Red Cross disaster preparedness courses. Check our Community Education page for more presentations.

We also offer a course unique to Humboldt County: Living on the Fault Line and Along the Coast. Check the Complete Event Calendar for this class, which is usually offered monthly at the chapter office and around the community.

We can also come to you:

  • We offer "Be Red Cross Ready" seminars through the California SafeCorps (Americorps) program to train your school, youth group, organization, or facility in Disaster Preparedness.
  • We can talk with your business or community group about disaster preparedness; and
  • We can bring a unique workshop to your organization that helps you to prepare your business for continuity of operations if disaster strikes.

Call the chapter office at 443-4521 for more information on these workshops and seminars.
